The Voyage

About The Route

Day 0! -
The start! Yarcombe, a picturesque little village in the heart of the beautiful south west of england in the mighty county of Devon! We will be leaving Yarcombe at around 7 o'clock and picking up each team member before heading to the Howley Tavern at around 8 o'clock for our farewells and ceremonial start. We will be leaving the Howley at midnight and heading up to the ferry terminal at Dover, where we have booked a ferry for 4:05 in the morning, which should arrive in France at about 6:20 in the morning. After this we will be driving straight down to the town of Rouen, which is the official start-point for the event, heading to the hotel we have booked and catching some sleep before meeting all the other participants in the evening.
Day 1 -
The event officially starts on Thursday the 26th of August. At 10am we will be leaving Rouen and heading down to the stunning port of La Rochelle; a drive that will take us through 302 miles (providing we dont get lost or take detours) of the north western corner of France. We will be passing through the sunflower strewn landscape of the Loire Valley, possibly through Le Mans, just to see some of the circuit and then on to La Rochelle where we will complete our first days driving on the coast.
Day 2 -
The second day is a 264 mile stretch. We will set off from La Rochelle in the morning and drive south towards Spain, through the endless vineyards of the Dordogne and across the Pyrenees mountains into Spain. We should arrive in San Sebastian in time to watch the sun set over the idyllic shell-shaped Bahia de la Conchas.
Day 3 -
The third day is a 283 mile drive where we will be heading into the heart of Spain. We'll go from stunning coastal driving with a nice fresh breeze, to harsh desert landscapes and the scorching heat of inland Spain. Our car's engine cooling system will be put to the test and fingers crossed will get us through! Eventually we'll arrive in the oasis that is Salamanca - one of the oldest university cities in Spain.
Day 4 -
The final day is the longest drive, at 310 miles, which will take us over the Spanish border and into Portugal. We'll pass through sleepy ancient stone villages, proud historic cities and beautiful coastal resorts before rocking up at the finishing line at the stunning Cabo Da Roca.
